This started with my daughter.

She was eight years old when she came down with a high fever. Then came the cough, the shivers, and one of those nights where nobody in the house really sleeps. Every few hours there was another temperature check, another glass of water, another dose to think about, another alarm going off.

Like any parent, I wanted to focus on making her comfortable. Instead, I found myself trying to remember details that suddenly felt incredibly important. Had I already given her medicine, or had I only been thinking about it? Was enough time left before the next dose? What was her temperature an hour ago? Had it gone up or down?

When you’re exhausted and worried, even simple questions become surprisingly difficult to answer with confidence.

My wife and I were taking turns caring for her throughout the day and night. Sometimes I’d give a dose while she was asleep. Sometimes she’d take over while I grabbed an hour or two of rest. We were constantly updating each other:

“When was the last dose?”
“Has she had anything since then?”
“What was her last temperature?”
“Is it too early for the next one?”

Neither of us had done anything wrong. We were simply relying on tired memories instead of one shared record.

A few days later, we were sitting in the doctor’s office, and one of the first questions was exactly what you’d expect.

“What medications has she been taking?”
“What doses?”
“How often?”

We had the medication boxes with us, but we were still trying to piece together the timeline from memory. I remember thinking how much easier it would have been if everything had already been written down in one place.

After that experience, I went looking for a simple shared log that my wife and I could both use from our own phones. I wanted one place where we could record medications, temperatures, and blood pressure, know when the next dose was due, and have an accurate history whenever we needed it. No downloads. No accounts. No complicated setup. Just something simple enough to use at two in the morning when neither of us was thinking clearly.

I couldn’t find it.

Everything I came across seemed to be built either for hospitals or for individuals — not for families caring for someone together.

So I built MedStitch.

It didn’t start as a business idea. It started as something I wished we’d had during one of the most stressful weeks our family had been through. A simple, shared log that helps everyone caring for someone stay on the same page, whether that’s a spouse, grandparent, sibling, or anyone else lending a hand.

Today, that’s still the goal.

If MedStitch can help another family spend less time wondering what happened and more time caring for the person in front of them, then it’s doing exactly what I hoped it would.
